We will endeavour that you learn all you can about Microdermabrasion and you finish the course feeling confident that you will be able to provide this therapy on your clients, friends and family.
Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic procedure that uses fine crystals and a vacuum to remove dead skin cells on the face. The aim is to reduce the effect of fine lines and minor skin blemishes. It works on all skin types and shouldn’t cause any skin colour changes or scarring.
Patients with fine facial lines or wrinkles, age spots, sun damage, uneven pigmentation, clogged pores, skin texture problems, or minor scars are good candidates for microdermabrasion. Patients with rosacea or acne may also benefit from microdermabrasion treatments
Benefits:
These are some of the common conditions which microdermabrasion is used to treat:
Acne/blackheads. Microdermabrasion facials can reduce acne by clearing away dead skin cells and impurities that can block pores and lead to inflammation and spots.
- Acne Scars.
- Fine Lines and Wrinkles.
- Stretch Marks.
- Uneven Pigmentation.
What are possible side effects of microdermabrasion?
- Skin tightness
- Redness
- Minor bruising
- Skin sensitivity
- Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)
- Small skin abrasions
- Spots of bleeding
- Eye-skin bruising (especially if you are taking aspirin or other blood thinners)
Microdermabrasion can be done as frequently as weekly or up to every 8 weeks depending on your skin’s tolerance and desired cosmetic effects. Many people choose to start with weekly treatments for 3 sessions, then change to a monthly maintenance regimen.
Many people choose microdermabrasion over chemical peels and laser treatment because it is generally safer and more cost-effective. The procedure may be a little uncomfortable but shouldn’t hurt (though skin can feel a little tender afterwards).
When carrying out a treatment it is important to remember your own comfort. You should not put your body under any unnecessary stress, strain or fatigue and therefore during the treatment you will need to perfect your own posture.
If standing, always stand back with your arms straight and with your back straight bend from the knees, pushing through from your back. You will be constantly reminded regarding your posture on your training day.
